Sara Ely Titus, 88, a longtime resident of Pasadena, MD died peacefully in her home on Tuesday, September 13, 2017. She was born on December 14, 1928 in Rogersville, PA, and was the daughter of Raymond and Anna Ely.

Mrs. Titus was a retired teacher, spending 40 years in Anne Arundel County, teaching at Jacobsville, Arnold, Lake Shore and Pasadena Elementary Schools.  During the first half of her career she taught music and then went into the classroom teaching fifth and sixth grade.  Her love for children and teaching led her own daughters into long-standing careers in education in Anne Arundel County.

In 1951, Sara married Marion Titus of Carmichaels, PA and they moved to Pasadena to start their careers and their family. Marion and Sara were active members of Pasadena United Methodist Church.  Sara was organist for many years and later a member of the United Methodist Women.  While raising their four children, Sara gave piano lessons to many other children in the area and also continued pursuing her educational certification.

Surviving are two daughters: Deborah Jester (Bud) and Jennifer Riegger (Ron) of Pasadena, MD; one son, Jonathan Titus (Tricia) of Naples, FL; five granddaughters, three great-granddaughters, and one great grandson. Also, surviving are one sister from Pasadena, MD and two sisters and one brother from Pennsylvania.  She is predeceased by her parents, her husband, Marion, of 65 years, her son, David, one brother, and two sisters.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice of the Chesapeake and Pasadena United Methodist Church Memorial Fund.

Services will be held on Monday September 18, 2017 at 11 a.m. in the Pasadena United Methodist Church 61 Ritchie hwy. Pasadena, MD 21122. Interment in the MD Veterans Cemetery Crownsville, MD.
