IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Pearl Isabel
Early
February 18, 1922 – November 8, 2021
Pearl Isabel Early (Bixler), a longtime resident of Annapolis, went home to be with the LORD, on November 8, 2021 at the age of 99 years. She was born to Ruth Q. (Walters) and Charles R. Bixler on February 18, 1922 in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania and was raised in Enola, PA. Pearl graduated from Enola High School in 1939 and continued her education at Shippensburg State Teachers College, where she received her Bachelors Degree in Primary Education in 1943.
Pearl married her husband, Lewis Edward Early on December 1, 1946 and eventually made the move to Cape St. Claire. She was blessed with two children; a son Douglas E. born on June 19, 1949 and a daughter Deborah E. born on April 2, 1959. She was a devoted Navy wife and Mom. In addition to being a Mother and homemaker, she taught first and second Grade School in Puerto Rico and in Seattle, Washington and Kindergarten in Hawaii. Pearl began the Cape St. Claire United Methodist Church Kindergarten Program in 1965.
She was an active and longtime member of Cape St. Claire United Methodist Church. She taught Sunday School, cooked in the Church kitchen, planned Bazaars and VBS programs, attended numerous meetings and provided rides to the elderly, who were usually younger than her. Pearl loved her LORD and Savior Jesus Christ, Church, Family and many Friends. She was Born-Again at a Tent Revival in her teen years, by placing her FAITH in Jesus.
Her other activities included; Bible Studies, Gideons International Auxiliary, Lazy Bones Camp Club, Church Women United, bowling, following the Orioles, camping, gardening and playing card games. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends and loved cooking big family dinners, along with baking her delicious desserts. One of the many cherished and famous desserts included her award-winning pies, which it is by no coincidence that her initials spell P.I.E.
As much as her family was her pride and joy, her Great-Grandchildren were the light of her world. She spent an abundant amount of time laughing, smiling, teaching and creating countless memories together. Their beloved G.G. would play the piano with babies on her lap and older Great Grands at her side. She was a talented piano player and loved playing the Hymns and beautiful Christmas songs. She sang in the Church choir for many years too.
Pearl is survived by her son Douglas E. Early of Arnold and her daughter Deborah E. Shanahan (Pat) of Annapolis; nine Grandchildren (Ryan, Christian, Nianque, Minka, Christopher, Jaclyn, Wachipi, Holly and Kelly) and twelve Great-Grandchildren (Alexia, Kayleigh, Joshua, Jazmyn, Taliya, Josiah, Peter, Cana, Jacob, Pearl, Addisyn, Ansel). With big hearts we want to thank her loving and amazing Caregiver, Gerry, for providing limitless love and prayer. She was preceded in death by her husband Lewis Edward Early in June of 1987. She also joins her loving sister Golda M. Foltz, sister-in-law Miriam Lee, niece Vicki Leo and niece Cherie Dressler, and others all from Pennsylvania.
