IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Luke Matthew
Moran
July 20, 2000 – August 1, 2019
Luke Moran, beloved son, brother, nephew, cousin and friend, passed away peacefully on August 1, 2019, surrounded by loving family after courageously battling a long illness. Though there are no words to truly express the depth of our loss, we take comfort in knowing he is at peace and in God's embrace.
To know Luke was to love Luke. He was a young man of great character, and his love of life, boundless enthusiasm, and caring nature were immediately felt by all who met him. Luke was known for his charismatic personality, generous heart, quick wit, great sense of humor and style, and his love of music. He adored spending time with his family and friends and was happiest when he was making other people laugh. He cherished his many friendships and was an amazing friend in return, ever present with an irresistible smile, comforting word or a funny story to brighten the day or lift a spirit.
A vibrant and engaged member of the Severna Park High School community, Luke was involved in the Business and Leadership program at school and helped coordinate various events through his work in the program. He enjoyed being a member of the SPHS swim team and participating in DECA competitions. Additionally, he shared his passion for sports with the St. Andrews Swim Club, where he was on the swim and dive teams, and eventually became a lifeguard and swim team coach. He loved working with all the amazing young swimmers, encouraging them with his positive energy and sweet demeanor.
After graduating from Severna Park High School in 2018, Luke attended the University of South Carolina to study Business and Marketing. An avid sports fan, the Gamecocks quickly joined the ranks of the SPHS Falcons and Baltimore Ravens as Luke's favorite teams.
Luke was kind, good-hearted, devoted to God, and proud to be an American. His poise and warm manner made it easy for him to make friends with people of all ages. He will live on in our hearts and our memories forever, and he will be a constant reminder of the greatest potential for good in each of us. Cherish the blessing that we were all given to have Luke in our lives, albeit far too briefly. To quote the retiring USC president quoting Dr. Seuss, "Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened."
Luke is survived by his parents, Matthew and Jacquelyn Moran, his brother Owen, many aunts, uncles and cousins, and friends too numerous to count.
