Zenith 'Tip' Mitchell, 92, died peacefully in her sleep on Tuesday Dec. 6, 2011. She was born Dec. 11, 1918 in Sistersville, WV where she met and married Paul 'Red' Mitchell in 1937. They moved to the DC/MD area in 1943. She retired as a bookkeeper from the former People's Hardware in Prince Georges County. Zenith was an active member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Upper Marlboro, even after her move to the Arnold area in 1993. She resided at Sunrise in Severna Park for the last 8 years.
She enjoyed the cabin they had in the PA mountains, the Red-Tip Retreat. She also enjoyed reading, doing jigsaw puzzles and word puzzles, but she mostly dedicated her life to being the best mother, grandmother and great-grandmother ever.
Zenith was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Paul Mitchell. She is survived by her daughter, Shirley Hill of Arnold, 4 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and was anticipating the birth of her first great-great-granddaughter.
Friends may visit on Saturday, December 10, 2011 from 11:00am- 12:00pm at the Barranco & Sons, P.A. Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Highway. Severna Park, MD 21146. A service will follow at 12:00pm in the Funeral Home Chapel. Interment in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Suitland, MD
