Zach is survived by his loving mother and stepfather, Elva and David Joyner, his
brothers, Zeke Smith and Josh Christina, and sister Michele Smith. Zach adored his
nephew Caleb Smith and niece Adalynn Smith. Zach's beloved father Vernon Smith
passed away June 15, 1995. Zach especially liked movies and was an expert on the
comic book Marvel Universe. Zach deeply loved his family, friends and co-workers.
Below is just a few of the many tributes Zach's friends have said. They have truly
captured the beautiful heart of our beloved Zach. We will miss you forever.
"Zach Smith was one of the best guys I knew! He went to the Ukraine to do
missionary work helping rebuild an orphanage and would do anything for you and was
one of the most selfless people I ever met. RIP my friend, my brother! The world is
a lesser place without you and you will never be forgotten and always loved by your
Calvert utilities family! "
"There will always be a place for you and those electric blue eyes in my heart. We
were worlds apart in personality but strangely drawn to one another. Nobody is as
charming as you - ever! Oh Zach. I know God wouldn't have allowed this to happen,
if it weren't "time". But it doesn't make it any less devastating to lose you. I'll
treasure our memories, keep you dear in my heart, and thank God for the final
moments spent with you this past summer - talking on a deeper level then we ever
had before. I will always love you sweet sweet boy."
"I'm from Ukraine and he helped my family to restore a home) Thank you!"
"Selfless is a understatement for Zach, one of the best guys I have ever known! He
dedicated more of his time and effort to those in need more than any one else I
have ever met in my life. It almost seemed odd because I have never known any one
else like him. I would ask him what drove him and he would just calmly shrug it off
like it was the way everyone should be. If the world was more like Zach we would be
a better place. I respected him a lot. I will MISS you brother!"
