Winifred Susan Pruitt (1949-2023)

Winifred Susan Pruitt of Arnold, Maryland, passed away on October 3rd at Sunrise of Severna Park at the age of 74. She was born on July 23, 1949, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Since becoming married, she had lived in Anne Arundel County, Maryland.

She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 51 years, Gary Pruitt; her daughter Andrea; her son Keith; and grandchildren Ashley Wilson-Shove, Jackson Shove, Emma Shove, Zachary Shove, Christopher Shove, Layla Pruitt, Jake Pruitt, Grace Shove, Patrick Shove, and Gabriella Shove.

She attended Drexel University, where she received a BA Degree in Economics; and University of Maryland, where she received a Masters in Library Science. Before her children were born, she worked at the Maryland Department of Legislative Reference. Susan and her husband enjoyed travel, having had the opportunity to travel in various locations throughout the US and Canada, England, France, Germany, Austria, and Italy.

She was an avid reader, and enjoyed crossword puzzles, and knitting. She also loved collectible figurines. There was always at least one pet in the house.

In her final months, she and husband Gary would sit and listen to the 1960s and 1970s popular music that she enjoyed. Susan passed away peacefully in the presence of her family.

In memory of Susan, contributions may be made to organizations that conduct research and offer family support related to vascular dementia.

A memorial gathering will be held on Wednesday, October 11, 2023, from 2:00pm- 4:00pm at Barranco Severna Park Funeral Home & Cremation Care, P.A., 495 Ritchie Hwy, Severna Park, MD 21146.
