William Michael Zaetz, Sr., 86, a resident of Glen Burnie, MD, died on May 4, 2009, at his son's home in Severna Park, due to natural causes after a lengthy illness.
He was born on June 16, 1922 in Locust Point, MD, where he was raised and attended City College of Baltimore. His past residences were in Baltimore and Glen Burnie.
Mr. Zaetz served in the U.S. Navy with the 93rd SeaBee Battallion in Phillipines during WWII from 1942-1946. He was retired from Kaiser Aluminum. He was also a Longshoreman.
He was a member of the Ferndale Club and member of the American Legion, Rosemont.
His interests included golf, baseball and soccer.
He is survived by his two sons, William Michael Zaetz, Jr. of Severn, MD and Steven Edward Zaetz of Severna Park. MD; four grandchildren, Erin Burr of Linthicum, MD, Michael Zaetz of Glen Burnie, MD, Alison Lombel of Glen Burnie, MD and Mark Zaetz of Glen Burnie, MD; and three great grandchildren.
A celebration of Bill Zaetz's Life will be held at his son's house in Severna Park, phone number 410-647-8394, on Monday, May 11th from 6:00-8:00 pm.
Interment will be private. Arrangements made by Barranco & Sons, P.A. Severna Park Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions maybe made to the Hospice of the Chesapeake, 445 Defense Highway, Annapolis, MD 21401.
