William B. Stitz, 81, of Millersville, died at Baltimore Washington Medical Center on November 5, 2012.

William was born to his parents, William and Mary Stitz on March 24, 1931 in Baltimore, where he was raised. He attended Forest Park High School, graduating in 1949 and later graduated from the University of Maryland College Park in 1954. He served in the U.S. Army in the Engineer's Division.

William moved to Anne Arundel County in 1956. He worked with the U. S. Army Corp of Engineers, Department of the Navy in Bangkok, Thailand, and was employed with the Goddard Space Flight Center.

Mr. Stitz was a former member of Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church in Elvaton. He was a Homing Pigeon Flyer and member of South Baltimore Pigeon Club, and enjoyed sailing, gardening, and a good cup of coffee.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his infant sister, Mae Stitz.

He is survived by his wife, Faye (Bingham) Stitz of Millersville; his son, William S. Stitz of Pasadena; his daughters, Mary D. Barlow of Paducah, KY and Sandy F. Blevins of Severna Park; as well as, his grandchildren, Joseph, Keri, Julianne, James, William, Clara, and Elizabeth.

Family and friends may visit on Monday, November 12th from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Barranco & Sons, P.A. Severna Park Funeral Home. A Funeral Service will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. with the interment to follow at Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Crownsville. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1041 Rt. 3 North, Gambrills, MD 21054. Online condolences may be made at www.barrancofuneralhome.com
