William C Sharp III Obituary

William "Wild Bill" Sharp III, 71, passed away from pancreatic cancer on Tuesday, May 9, 2017 surrounded by family and friends. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Nancy; his sons, Michael and Chris; grandson Ian; father William; brothers Thomas and Scott; cousins Richard, Fred, Wayne, and Julie; sisters in law Elaine and Loretta; nieces Jennifer and April and nephew Thomas, as well as many more family and friends. He is preceded by Doris Sharp, his mother, Nicky Pastore, his nephew, and his beloved dogs, Bug and Snooper.

He was born in Baltimore and grew up in Pasadena, MD.  After joining the Army as a medical corpsmen in 1965 he was stationed at Fort Bliss, TX, and in 1967 at Fort Devens, Massachusetts, he met Nancy Pastore and they married August 17, 1968. He was honorably discharged from active duty in December, 1967.  In 1972, they would move into the house that Bill and his friends and family built.

Over the next 50 years, he would work as a carpenter, a home-builder, and as a construction inspector for the State of Maryland. In May of 1992, with his boys and wife looking on proudly, he would graduate with Honors from Dundalk Community College with an Associates in Arts and a certificate in Heating and Air Conditioning.  As an avid motorcyclist, he was a proud and active member of the Patriot Guard Riders, who honor fallen soldiers and veterans with funeral escorts and flag lines, and served as the MD/DC representative for the National Moto Guzzi Motorcycle Club.  A little league baseball coach, an enthusiastic traveler, golfer, story-teller, and host for his yearly cookouts, camping trips, and motorcycle rallies, are just some of the roles he performed. He enjoyed painting, building furniture, gardening, cooking, especially his famous Wild Bill Chili, and being in the company of his friends and family where he earned the respected and affectionate title of Big Poppa Sharp. He was a loving husband, caring and supportive father, and friend to all who met him.
