William Patrick Reilly, 84, of Severna Park, died due to complications of cancer surrounded by his loving family on July 23, 2011.

Mr. Reilly was born on November 30, 1926 in Upper Darby, PA, and raised in the Philadelphia area. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 58 years, Anne Reilly (nee Herrmann). Mr. Reilly was a resident of Severna Park for the last 25 years. His past residences include Huntington, NY, Columbia, South America, Woodcliff Lake, NJ, and Altamonte Springs, FL.

Mr. Reilly served in the Army during WWII; working with the Amori Prefecture transitional government during the post war occupation of Japan and the Judge Advocate General during the Yokohama war crimes trials.
Mr. Reilly graduated from Georgetown University School of Foreign Service in 1949. He also studied at the University of Madrid, Columbia University, St. Joseph's College, and City College of NY. He began his career in international business with the United Fruit Company and worked for the United Nations Port Development in Colombia, South America. Mr. Reilly continued his six-decade career in international shipping and business, traveling extensively throughout the world. He was fluent in Spanish and had a great love for Spanish and Latin culture.

Mr. Reilly started a school lunch program for 300 children of Columbian stevedores in Buenaventura, Columbia. He was a devoted advocate of the mentally ill. He was a devout Catholic and faithful parishioner of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Severna Park, MD.
Mr. Reilly developed a love of singing as a child and performed on the Ted Mack radio show in the 1930s. Throughout his life he sang in church choirs, during many family events, and with the Annapolis Chorale. Mr. Reilly coached and organized youth soccer leagues in both Florida and New Jersey. He intensely followed his children's and grandchildren's interests and passions, especially soccer, baseball, ballet, music, photography, tennis, hockey, and Boy Scouts.

He was preceded in death by his brother John Reilly and his son Christopher Reilly.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Kathleen Reilly DiBlasi (late Theodore) of West Columbia, TX, his sons, William P. Reilly III (Antoinette) of Peachtree City, GA, Timothy Reilly (Mary) of Bluemont, VA, Matthew Reilly (Lina) of Annapolis, MD, Daniel Reilly (Katherine) of Crownsville, MD, and Thomas Reilly (Elizabeth) of Baltimore, MD, his fourteen grandchildren, Giselle, Jonathon, Theodore, William, James, Hannah, Matthew, Dylan, Christina, Nicole, Daniel, John Patrick, Ethan, and Liam, and his great grandson, Hudson.

A memorial visitation will be held on Friday, July 29, 2011 from 6-8 PM at the Barranco & Sons, P.A. Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Highway. There will be a mass at 11 AM on Saturday July 30 at St. Johns the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church. Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to the American Cancer Society, 1041 Rt. 3 North, Gambrills, MD 21054, or to the Alzheimer's Association, 1850 York Road, Suite D, Timonium, MD 21093.
