William "Bill" P. Wells passed away on March 3, 2022 while surrounded by his adoring family. He is survived by his devoted and loving wife of more than 50 years, Debi Wells; their awesome daughter, Christina Lamar, and equally awesome son-in-law, James Lamar; their three creative and amazing grandchildren: Asher, Ranen, and Kylee; his caring brother, Robert Wells and his family, wife, Terri and daughter, Jessica; sister-in-law, Kathleen Sullivan and her family, husband, Ed and daughter, Lisa.  He was preceded in death by his father, Staff Sgt. William G. Wells, and his mother Lillian Wells (nee Wawerka).

Born in Charm City (Baltimore, MD) on October 8, 1950, Bill grew up in Arnold, MD where he would experience countless day-long adventures through the farmlands and dense wooded acres where Anne Arundel Community College now stands. Having lived in Arnold and the surrounding areas for the majority of his life, he found the history of the area fascinating – even contributing to its historical record by providing information for the book Arnold, Maryland & Neighbors on the Broadneck by Alberta Stornetta.

A 40-year veteran of the world-class defense company Northrop Grumman Corporation, Bill managed quality control responsibility for over 1,800 suppliers with locations that had him traveling all across the globe, which he loved. He would come home with stories about singing in Ireland's pubs at Christmastime, strolling on Australia's heated walkways, and taking in the sights of Niagara Falls. And, sometimes there was excitement during Bill's travels! When he was a Program Quality Manager for the Caribbean Basin Radar Network, Bill's mission was to install and final test radar systems designed to intercept low-flying aircraft that traveled just above the water's surface, carrying drugs destined for the US. During various installations, he worked at tree height while surrounded by monkeys, was chased by the Cartel in Venezuela, dodged bullets directed at him during a visit to Panama City, and woke up in a Honduras hotel with a big, fat tarantula staring at him. And because it was Bill, he was able to find humor in all of his assignments.

Bill remained curious his entire life and had many interests and hobbies: astronomy, researching his family's genealogy, running an antique train memorabilia business with his wife (incentivized by discovering his ancestors worked on the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad), cooking elaborate meals from scratch for family and friends to show them his love, building an intricate model of the Titanic, volunteering for the Symphony Village Landscape and Irrigation Committee to care for his community's trees, and more. His neighbors all knew, if your tree showed signs of stress, disease or damage, Bill Wells (aka, the 'Tree Guy') wanted to help.  With dogged persistence, dedication , and a never-give-up attitude Bill was relentless to solve any concern for the well-being of a tree. He was a Renaissance man of the kindest nature and was detailed and clever at many different things.

Bill had a zest for life, an incredible sense of goofiness and humor, and always made time for those he loved. He was an extraordinary husband, father, father-in-law, PopPop and friend. He will continue to be within the hearts of all who knew him, and will be sorely missed.
