IN LOVING MEMORY OF
William M.
Naff
August 9, 1947 – April 19, 2017
William Marvin "Bill" Naff died peacefully in his sleep Wednesday, April 19, 2017, at the Hospice of the Chesapeake in Pasadena, MD. He was born August 9, 1947, in Richmond, VA, to Jesse and Helen Naff and died the same way in which he lived life — strong and with courage.
Bill was a true history buff and you couldn't catch him on much. He loved music (especially Elvis) but listened to all kinds, enjoyed and loved his family life, could recite all the words to Patton, Titanic, Casablanca, Gone with the Wind, and never tired of watching them over and over again. He could play Trivia with the best! He was a man of honor and his word — a Renaissance man with great values. He enlisted in the Marines in 1967 during the Vietnam War and served his country with honor. As a recipient of the Purple Heart and once recovered from his wounds, he qualified to either serve in Force Recon or Embassy Duty and elected the latter assignment in Romania and Brussels for two more years. Upon his discharge, he returned home and completed his college degree courtesy of the GI Bill. With a B.S. in Civil Engineering from Virginia Tech, which he earned within three years, he worked on many projects spanning assignments with the U.S. Corps of Engineers in Baltimore, Burke Construction in Laurel, MD, Blake Construction in Washington, DC, and Struever Brother Eccles & Rouse Inc. in Baltimore. Most notably he was part of building the Holocaust Museum, in Washington, the Annapolis District Court in Annapolis, the Harry Diamond Lab in Adelphia, MD, and several school restorations in Virginia and the District of Columbia.
He is survived by his wife Ellen Lee Naff of 24+ years, his daughters Jessica Jackson and Shauna Bokland, his son-in-law Andy Jackson, grandson Zachery Taylor Jackson, and his sister Fentress Browning. He will definitely be missed by all. Semper Fi!
