William H. McLean, 85, of Arnold, died of natural causes Sept. 25 at the Carroll Hospital Center in Westminster.

Mr. McLean was born Oct. 8, 1918, in Thomas, W.Va., and reared in Cumberland. He worked for 34 years for the government in civilian personnel at Fort George G. Meade before retiring in 1974.

During World War II he was an Army first sergeant in a camouflage unit.

Mr. McLean was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the National Association of Retired Federal Employees. His interests including golf and working in his yard.

Surviving are his wife, Ethel McLean; one son, William McLean II of Westminster; one daughter, Sheila McLean Marzucco of Buffalo, N.Y.; one brother, Joseph McLean of Virginia; five grandchildren; and two great-grandsons.

He was the son of the late Elizabeth and William Harrison McLean.

Services will be at 11 a.m. tomorrow at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, with burial in Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Crownsville at a later date. Arrangements are by Barranco and Sons Severna Park Funeral Home.
