William Izzo

William A. Izzo, 81, of Arnold, died of heart failure July 26 at Anne Arundel Medical Center after an illness of four years.

Born March 23, 1925, in Pittsburgh, Mr. Izzo was raised in Germany, returning to Pittsburgh at age eight. His past residences included Glen Burnie and Sardinia, Italy.

He served in the Coast Guard for 30 years, retiring with a rank of chief warrant officer. He was the owner of the Lucias Beauty Shop of Severna Park and a member of American Legion Post 175.

Survivors include his wife, Lucy, with whom he recently celebrated his 50th wedding anniversary; two sons, Bill Izzo of Arnold and John Izzo of Pittsburgh; one daughter, Debra Galvin of Arnold; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. tomorrow and Sunday at Barranco and Sons Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Highway. A Mass of Christian burial will be said at noon Monday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 689 Ritchie Highway, Severna Park. Burial will be in Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Crownsville.
