On Sunday, February 13, 2011, William Shipley Crisp of Severna Park, devoted father of Ottilie Crisp Habercam and Belinda Crisp Scherr, loving grandfather of Courtney, Aleigh, Jocelyn, Caitlin, William, and Benjamin, and great-grandfather of Reid and Emma, an adopted so-to-speak daughter Dixie Thompson, along with several nieces and nephews, passed away peacefully after a brief illness. He was predeceased by his wife of over 63 years, Jean Hofmann Crisp. "Bill" graduated from Franklin Day School and attended Washington College.
He was born in Brooklyn Park to Elizabeth Hopkins Crisp and William Nicholas Crisp and lived in Brooklyn Park until 1951 at which time he built a home and moved his family to Lakeland in Severna Park. He owned and was very proud of the company he worked from the ground up, Bronze and Plastics Specialties in Baltimore.
Bill was an avid boater and fisherman. He loved crabbing, and soft crabbing.
He was proud of the fact that he was the oldest living member of the Annapolis Yacht Club and proudly displayed his membership pin with a diamond.
His favorite restaurant was "The Narrows" and usually went to lunch or Brunch at least 3 times a week getting his oyster fix! He also loved his McDonald Fish Filet sandwich and a senior "real coke".
For 10 years he and Jean traveled the inland waterways with his boat the "JBOB" to "Duck Key" where they kept a winter residence.
After Jean died, he moved to Sunrise Independent Living and made many good friends.
"Bill" loved good jokes and loved telling good jokes. He loved watching the antics of his two great grandchildren! He loved talking about all of his grandchildren.
Family and friends may visit on Tuesday, February 15, 2011 from 6-8 pm at Barranco & Sons, P.A. Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Hwy in Severna Park. A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 am at the funeral home. Interment will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Brooklyn Park, MD.
