William McKinley Cosey, Jr., 81, a resident of Arnold, MD died at home peacefully surrounded by his loved ones on October 1, 2009.

He was born on August 4, 1928 in Hagerstown, MD to his late parents William M. and Mabel Louise Cosey.

Mr. Cosey lettered 3 years in baseball and 2 years in football at Hagerstown High School and graduated in 1946. He graduated from Washington and Jefferson College, receiving a BA degree with major in Economics and minor in Political Science, lettered in baseball, and was a member of Phi Gama Delta fraternity Alpha Chapter.

In November 1950, Mr. Cosey was drafted into the U.S. Army. He did basic training at Ft. Campbell, KY, Leadership School in Fort Indiantowne Gap, PA, and spent 6 months at Office candidate course in Fort Knox,KY. He graduated in June of 1952 as 2nd Lt. Armor and spent 18 months at Fort Hood,Texas. He was discharged 1st Lt. in December of 1953.

During 1954-56, Mr. Cosey worked as a salesman with Remington Rand and was an Analytical Clerk with Fairchild Aircraft. From 1956-1957 he worked for the Office of Naval Intelligence, PRNC in Washington, DC and between 1957 and 1987 he was employed with NSA until his retirement.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Joan D. Cosey of Arnold, MD; four children, Brad Cosey of Myrtle Beach, SC, Linda C. Lehner of Belair, MD, Jeffrey A. Cosey of Severn, MD and Kimberly C. Guglielmo of Durham, NC; seven grandchildren, Erin N. Lehner, Douglas M. Lehner, Joseph W. Lehner, Megan E. Guglielmo, Katherine G. Guglielmo, Lauren N. Cosey and Ryan H. Cosey.

A memorial visitation will be held on Monday, October 5, 2009 from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm at Barranco & Sons, P.A. Severna Park Funeral Home in Severna Park.
A Memorial Service will be held at MD Veterans Cemetery Chapel in Crownsville, MD on Tuesday, October 6, 2009 at 1:00 pm.
