William Joseph Collins, 94, passed into eternal life on August 16, 2015 with his beloved wife of 74 years, Katherine (Norton), at his bedside in Severna Park, MD. Known as Bill or Red, he was born November 15, 1920 in Beacon, NY, grew up in Brooklyn, NY and raised his family in Westbury, NY.

Loving father of William (Patricia), Michael (Nancy), Joseph (Anita), Gerard (Cynthia) and Peter (Cynthia). Loving grandfather to Katherine, William (Lori), Patricia Higgins (Christopher), Michael, Gregory (Allison), Joseph, Jude (Julie), Brian, Christopher (Tracy), Harrison & Sarah. Loving great grandfather to Joseph, Madeline, Tyler, Addison, Ryder and William & Anna Higgins.

Predeceased by his brothers Hugh, Edward, John and Patrick. Survived by his dear sister Jane Chapman.

Served with the 76th Infantry Division during World War II including service in Europe during the Battle of the Bulge. Worked for Mobil Oil Corp in New York City for 35 years.


Lived his life dedicated to hard work, his country, education for his children, his Catholic faith and his beloved wife and family. A truly good man, he shared his kind, love of life spirit with everyone.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, August 23rd from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at Barranco & Sons, P.A. Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Hwy. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:00am on Monday, August 24th at St. John the Evangelist Church in Severna Park with the interment to follow at Maryland Veteran's Cemetery in Crownsville.
