Private First Class (PFC) William Byrne Carlson died on Tuesday, November 4, 2025. Will is survived by his parents, Chris Carlson and Joanne Byrne, his loyal sisters Josie and Maggie, and his grandfather, William Byrne. Will enjoyed the camaraderie and support of a large family on both the Carlson and Byrne sides which filled his life with wonderful memories of supportive aunts, uncles and cousins from Texas, South Carolina and Pennsylvania.

Will followed a childhood dream and enlisted in the Army in the Spring of 2024 to serve in the infantry. During infantry training, Will was asked and accepted the challenge to enter Special Forces training. In April, 2025, Will completed the Green Beret Selection Process and was waiting for additional training at the time of his death. Will remained steadfast in his faith in God as well as the love of his family and country. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you take a moment to reflect upon the disease of addiction, the far-reaching impact on those suffering from it, as well as family members and loved ones impacted by it.

A private service will be held in Fort Bragg, North Carolina.
