William S. Bivins, 77, a resident of Severna Park, died on July 31, 2014, at Genesis Eldercare.

He was born on March 14, 1937 in Alva, OK, and was raised in Oklahoma and Carlsbad, New Mexico. He attended Texas Tech University and New Mexico State University, and received his masters at the University of Wisconsin.

William served in the US Army from 1959-1962.

He worked with the Dam Safety Program with the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

William loved sailing and animals.

He was preceeded in death by his parents; Ruth and Duce Bivins.

William is survived by his wife, Mary Katherine Bivins of Severna Park, his daughter, Valerie Murphy of Lawrenceville, GA, his daughter, Victoria Baker (Kent) of Swanee, GA, his stepson, Patrick Murray (Katie) of Severna Park, stepdaughter, Beth Mayer of Severna Park, stepson, Michael Murray, (Melissa) of Severna Park, and step daughter, Katherine Conner (Casey) of Swananoa, NC., grandfather of Brian Murphy (Melanie), Kellie Murphy, Katie Murphy, Trey Baker, Colton Baker and Samantha Baker, he is also survived by 12 step grandchildren.

Family and friends may visit at Barranco & Sons, P.A. Severna Park Funeral Home on Sunday from 1-2pm, with a Memorial Service to follow.
