William Douglas "Bill" Andrew, 60, of Pasadena and formerly of Arnold and Severna Park, died unexpectedly Feb. 9 at the National Security Agency in Fort Meade where he was working at the time. The cause of death is pending.

The son of the late Bertha and Albert "Al" Andrew, Mr. Andrew was born Oct. 24, 1945, and reared in Detroit, Mich., and graduated from Wayne State University. He earned a master's degree in history from the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor and was pursuing a master's degree in pastoral counseling from Loyola College in Baltimore.

He worked as a high school teacher for four years in Howell, Mich. Subsequently he worked for the NSA as an analyst for 28 years.

He was a member of the Crabtowne Skiers in Annapolis, Single Again Changing Focus where he participated in support groups for 10 years, and of Woods Memorial Presbyterian Church in Severna Park, where he was a active in the Men's Bible Study and Christ Care support groups.

His interests included cross-country and downhill snow skiing, home renovation projects, tai-chi, drawing, skating and tennis. During his college days, he played basketball.

Surviving are his former wife of 26 years, Mary Andrew of Severna Park, whom he married in 1968 and divorced in 1994; one son, Benjamin Michael "Ben" Andrew of San Francisco; one sister, Karen Ann Andrew of Cleveland, Ohio; and his companion of five years, Sandy Wilde of Pasadena.

Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Woods Memorial Presbyterian Church. Burial is private. Arrangements are by Barranco and Sons Severna Park Funeral Home.
