It is with deep love and gratitude for a life well lived that the family of Weston Robert Barget, Jr announces his passing on May 26, 2026 at the age of 86. He was a loving father and grandfather whose presence brought warmth, humor, and some very long speeches (for which he was known) to every gathering. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Patricia Ann (nee Kinch), whose memory remained close to his heart always. Throughout the years, they built a home filled with love, peace and a good dose of laughter. He leaves behind four children (John Hamilton, Marybeth Barget, Jennifer Barget and Jeannine Barget) and six grandchildren (Natalie Rupeiks, Nicholas Rupeiks, Daphne Faust, Owen Faust, Julia Hines and Jacob Hines), all of whom will remember his playful spirit and unique interests in unusual-tasting foods, which he would often try to share with them. Whether telling stories, teasing affectionately across the dinner table, or organizing one more of his famous crabcake dinners, he had a love for bringing people together and making them feel welcome.

Born in Baltimore in October 1939, he carried with him throughout his life a deep affection for the Chesapeake Bay, a love of Old Bay and crabfeasts and sailing outings with his longtime friend, Mr. G. and both families.

After growing up in Baltimore, Weston (“Bob”) moved to Severna Park and dedicated his professional life to service at the National Security Agency, where he worked for many years with quiet integrity, patriotism, and steadfast commitment. He cared deeply about serving his country, but those who worked beside him also remember his loyalty and support for his colleagues. He built lifelong friendships through his work and took pride in convening T-Comm and NSA alum reunions over plates of food that he would prepare.

Retirement opened a new chapter that highlighted his craftsmanship, gave opportunity for longer, day-long journeys around the food markets of Maryland, and, always, allowed for more time spent with family. He happily turned to honing his woodcraft skills at the Maine-based Wooden Boat School, which rekindled his childhood for building boats and spending time by the water.

Weston will be remembered for his devotion to family, his service to his country, his enduring friendships, and the mischievous light in his eye he held with him wherever he went. His legacy lives on in the stories shared around family tables, in his woodwork crafted by hand, and in the timeless ebb and flow of the Chesapeake Bay.

A celebration of his life will be hosted by his family and details will be shared with friends and family over the next few weeks.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in his memory to an organization that is important to him and his grandchildren: the Baltimore Youth Cycling, Maryland Horse Rescue, or the SPCA.
