IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Werner H.
Ender
January 23, 1949 – May 11, 2023
Werner Heinz Ender, 74, a 35 year resident of Glen Burnie, passed away on Thursday, May 11, 2023 after a more than 3 year battle with kidney cancer. Werner was born on January 23, 1949 in Wurzburg, Germany to the late Siegfried and Mathilde Ender.
Werner graduated from high school in Germany. After graduation he worked in a hospital in their urology clinic. In 1971 Werner decided to move to the United States to reconnect of his first love, Sylvia. When he arrived in the United States, he didn't speak any English and through television and newspaper, he taught himself how to speak the language. Soon after arriving in the United States, Werner married the love of his life, Sylvia, on January 7, 1972. Werner earned his CDL license and started his trucking career with B Green. When B Green closed, he went on the work for Giant Food and spend the rest of his career driving for them until his retirement.
Werner enjoyed traveling and exploring historical landmarks and was an avid train garden collector. He enjoyed photography and always took pictures, especially of his family and loved sharing them with everyone. Werner was always up to date on current politics, both local and European. He was a coffee lover. He especially enjoyed a nice cup of coffee with his wife in the morning. Werner collected coffee cups and had a collection of 30 Starbucks coffee cups. He was always on the lookout for a bargain, sometimes buying more than he needed. Werner enjoyed researching his family tree and especially enjoyed sharing stories with his grandkids about his story. Most of all, Werner loved spending time with his family. He was kind and loving, always putting his family first. Werner always loved having the family over and laughing with his grandkids as they joked and talked about each other's day. When he was originally diagnosed with cancer, he was asked to be in a clinical trial. He agreed to join the trial and said even if it didn't help him the research which was being done would help others. He was very passionate about his participation in the clinical trial.
Werner is survived by his wife of, 51 years, Sylvia Werner; his two sons, Matthew D. Ender (Cassie) and Michael P. Ender, Sr. (Lonise); his five grandchildren, Michael P. Ender, Jr. (Brooke), Haylee B. Ender (Fiancée Scott), Izayah N. Ender, Shawna C. Ender, and Sara N. Ender. Werner is also survived by one great grandchild, Grant P. Ender.
