Wanema Currence
Wanema Pauline Currence, 89, of Arnold, died of cancer Oct. 6 at her home after a lengthy illness.
Born in Elkins, W.Va., on Dec. 29, 1916, and reared in Norton, W.Va., Mrs. Currence received a teaching degree from Davis and Elkins College. A homemaker, she taught grade school in Job, W.Va., and later was the owner and operator of the Norton Telephone Co.
She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, traveling, gardening, reading and the theater. A novice painter, she had a deep appreciation for the arts.
The widow of Elmer Frederick Currence Sr., she is survived by one daughter, Heather Ruth Currence Berlett of Arnold; three sons, Elmer Frederick Currence Jr. of Rock Hall, John Leonard Currence of Arnold and William Stewart Currence of Annapolis; 12 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. tomorrow at Barranco and Sons Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Highway. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Pasadena United Methodist Church, 61 Ritchie Highway, Pasadena. Burial will be private.
