Mr. Westphal is survived by his son, Robert L. Alley (Sharon); 2 granddaughters, Lisa Alley and Amberly Alley Boardley; 2 sisters, Peggy Jackson and Barbara Holtz; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia L. Westphal; 1 sister, Kathleen M. Westphal; and 2 brothers, William F. J. Westphal and Francis Westphal.
Mr. Westphal served in the US Navy and US Marines. He was retired from the City of Baltimore, Transit and Traffic Division-Sign Department.
He was a member of the American Legion-Post 175, Forty and Eight and Severna Park Elks.
He enjoyed drawing and painting pictures, and going to flea markets.
A graveside service will take place at the Maryland Veterans Cemetery on Wednesday March 16, 2016 at 11:30am.
