Wadie Miller Brandimore, 84, of Arnold, died of cancer Dec. 25 at FutureCare-Chesapeake in Arnold after a brief illness.
Born Aug. 19, 1920, in Laconia, Tenn. and reared in Murray, Ky., Mrs. Brandimore received her nursing certification from the former St. Joseph's Hospital School of Nursing in Lexington, Ky., and served in the Navy Nurse Corps in Norfolk, Va., at the end of World War II in 1945.
A registered nurse for 51 years, she was licensed in Maryland and Kentucky. She worked at the Anne Arundel Medical Center for 28 years and was recognized in "Who's Who in American Nursing 1990-1991."
She was a member of Maryland Nursing Association District 3, the American Nurse Association, Fleet Reserve Association Ladies Auxiliary, the Disabled American Veterans Commander's Club, the Navy Nurse Corps and the Retired Enlisted Association. She was a charter member of the Women's Memorial in Washington, D.C.
She also belonged to AARP of Severna Park, Anne Arundel County Fair Inc. and the Arnold Senior Center, where she regularly attended.
Among her interests were needlecrafts and sewing.
In 1946 she was married to Navy Petty Officer 1st Class LeRoy J. Brandimore, who is now deceased.
Surviving are one son, LeRoy W. Brandimore of Ellicott City; one daughter, Geraldine B. Anderson of Annapolis; two sisters, Christine Strong of Merritt Island, Fla., and Electa Whipple of Toledo, Ohio; and two grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Barranco and Sons Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Highway, where funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday. Burial will follow in Meadow-
ridge Memorial Park, Elkridge.
