Virginia Dennis Pierson passed away on December 11, 2023 after a long illness. She was born in Troy, Alabama, November 7, 1931. She moved to Panama City, Florida in 1935. She attended the University of Alabama where she was a member of Phi Mu Sorority. Due to her husband's career, she relocated many times before settling in Severna Park in 1971 where she was active in the Altar Guild at St. Martin in the Field, Panhallenic . PEO and Chartwell Country Club as well as substitute teaching at Severna Park Middle School and Severna Park High School. She enjoyed playing bridge and golf and was an excellent pianist. Upon retirement, she relocated to Lynn Haven, Florida, but returned to Severna Park in 2011 to be closer to family.
She was predeceased by her husband of fifty-seven years years, Julian A. Pierson, Jr. She is survived by three children and their spouses; Kim and Marlin Sanders of Flat Rock, North Carolina, Drew and Kim Pierson of Finksburg, Maryland, Melissa and Scott Priebe of Berlin, Maryland, seven grandchildren: Christopher and Amanda Sanders of Maryville, Washington, Ashley and Michael Sutor of Bexley, Ohio, Amanda and Mike Fields of Severna Park, Maryland, Sarah Pierson of Centreville, Maryland, Megan and Matt Shetz of Westminsiter, Maryland, Mark and Ryan Priebe of Baltimore, Maryland, and Andrew Pierson of Finksburg, Maryland and eleven great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life will be held at St.-Martin's-in-the-Field Episcopal Church 375 Benfield Rd Severna Park, MD 21146 on December 30, 2023 at 11:00 am.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be made to St.-Martin's-in-the-Field Episcopal Church Severna Park Maryland or P.E.O. Sisterhood (Maryland Chapter).
