Virginia (Becky) Beckett Tubbs, 89, of Severna Park, died on Sunday, December 8, 2013, at Baltimore Washington Medical Center.

She was born in Shelbina, Missouri on April 26, 1924 to Everett Beckett and Ruby McFarland Beckett. She attended Western Illinois State Teachers College (now University) on a full scholarship before coming east in 1943 to work in the war effort.

Virginia earned a Bachelor's Degree from the University of Maryland in College Park and worked for the Department of Defense at Ft. Meade, retiring after 45 years of service. In addition to her family, her passion in retirement was a Christmas tree farm outside Wytheville, Virginia run by her and her husband prior to his death in 1992.

Virginia, her husband and family moved to the Ben Oaks neighborhood in 1956 where she lived continuously with the exception of 18 months in Japan in 1960-1961. She was active in the Ben Oaks garden club and served as secretary on the Ben Oaks Civic Association board of directors.

She enjoyed spending time with her family and was an active member of W.I.N. and N.A.R.F.E.

Virginia was the wife of the late David Glenn Tubbs.
She is survived by her daughters Marie Tubbs Pontius (Dr. Steven) and Sandra Tubbs Ramsey (James), 5 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren. She was sister of the late Marion Beckett, the late Marie Beckett Eaton (Ralph) and the late Finley Beckett (Mary Ann)

Friends may visit at Barranco & Sons, P.A. Severna Park Funeral Home on Thursday, December 12, from 5-8pm and on Friday, December 13th, from 10-11am. A Funeral Service will follow at 11am. Interment will be at 2:30pm at the National Memorial Park in Falls Church, VA.
