Virginia Duvall "Ginny" Barrett, 78, a longtime resident of Severna Park, died of cancer April 25 at her home after a two-year illness.

Born Sept. 12, 1927, in Severna Park, Mrs. Barrett also resided in Baltimore at one time. She was a homemaker and had worked at Macey's Corner Exxon Station.

She was a member and past president of American Legion Post 175 Ladies Auxiliary. Her interests included crocheting, gardening, crossword puzzles, reading and cooking.

She was the widow of Guy E. Barrett and sister of the late Lillian Brady.

Surviving are three daughters, Susan Watson and Tracy Boland, both of Severna Park, and Karen Wagner of Arnold; three sisters, Muriel Hammond of Baltimore, Carol Gardner of Severn and Linda Douglas of Florida; grandchildren, Nancy Bravo, Phillip Wagner, Duane Barrett, Catherine Fetcho, BJ Watson, and RJ Advincola; and great-grandchildren, Kees Wagner and Guy Wagner.

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at Barranco and Sons Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Highway, where services will be at 9:30 a.m. tomorrow. Burial will follow in Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Crownsville.
