Veronica Blaser
Veronica "Ronnie" Blaser, 83, of Annapolis, died of natural causes Jan. 17 at Anne Arundel Medical Center after a long illness.
The former Veronica Green was born Aug. 30, 1921, and raised in The Bronx, N.Y. Previously of Wheaton, she retired from the Montgomery County school system where she was a language and reading specialist. She moved to Annapolis 16 years ago and enjoyed volunteering for various organizations.
Surviving are her husband, John F. Blaser, whom she married on June 28, 1942; her children, Sister Mariellen Blaser of Albany, N.Y., a member of the Catholic Sisters of the Holy Name order, and John T. Blaser and Margaret E. Joseph of Annapolis, Peter M. Blaser of Laytonsville, Timothy J. Blaser of Frederick, Thomas J. Blaser of Nokesville, Va., and Robert E. Blaser of Deale; one sister, Cecilia Farrelly of The Bronx; 15 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation is from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow at Barranco and Sons Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Highway. A Mass of Christian burial will be offered at noon Friday at St. Andrew by the Bay Catholic Church, 701 College Parkway, near Cape St. Claire. Burial will be in Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Crownsville.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Sisters of the Holy Name, Province Administration, 1061 New Scotland Ave., Albany, NY 12208.
