Vernon D. Street, 80, a resident of Chartwell in Severna Park, died suddenly at home on April 26, 2009 surrounded by his family.

He was born on November 24, 1928 in Baltimore, MD to the late Wilford and Grace Street and was raised in South Baltimore. He lived in Linthicum prior to residing in Severna Park.

Mr. Street was an entrepreneur, beginning in his early years with the Wootzie Wagon, a snowball and ice cream truck that he named after his wife. He then owned and operated Tire City Tire Company in Baltimore and Glen Burnie and then during his retirement he developed the Dermaway Life Cream Skin Care Products.

He served in the Merchant Marines and the U.S. Army.

He enjoyed playing golf and spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife Ruth M. Street (nee Brandenburg) of Severna Park, MD; four daughters, Verna Lee Prince of Severna Park, MD, Pamela Ann Webb of Severna Park, MD, Janet Lynn Phelps of Severna Park, MD, and Marcellene Kay Gilbert of Severn, MD; two brothers, Frank Street of Crofton, MD and Pete Street of Severna Park, MD; nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Family and friends may visit on Tuesday, April 28 from 6-8 pm and on Wednesday, April 29 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at Barranco & Sons, P.A. Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Gov. Ritchie Highway in Severna Park. A Funeral Service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, April 30 at 11 AM .Interment will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
