Vernon I Rey of Severna Park, MD died on November 15, 2014 at Future Care Chesapeake in Arnold. He was born on September 28, 1920 in Baltimore, MD to George and Theresa Pollack Rey.
Mr. Rey grew up in Baltimore City. He served in the Army Air Corp. as an airplane mechanic instructor and was discharged in 1945. He worked for the B&O Railroad as a freight claims adjustor until his retirement in 1981.
He was married to Catherine Green Rey for 40 years until her death in 1980. On October 31, 1981 Vernon married Rose Marie Robinson Rey and resided in Severna Park, MD.
Vernon was a life long, faithful member of St. Thomas Lutheran Church in Baltimore, MD. He served in many capacities over the years including Congregation President. He was an avid Orioles and Ravens fan and enjoyed spending time with his family, Bible study and church activities, gardening, fishing, and playing cards.
He is survived by his wife, Rose Marie; two sons, Vernon Rey of Baltimore MD and David Rey and his wife Joyce of Pasadena MD; two step daughters, Patricia Weese and her husband Rodger of Long Neck DE; and Joanne Doran and her husband, Mark of Stevensville, MD. Vernon was blessed with 10 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
Friends may visit on Tuesday November 18, 2014 from 2-4 & 6-8:00pm at the Barranco & Sons,P.A Severna Park Funeral Home 495 Ritchie Hwy. Severna Park, MD 21146. Services will be held on Wednesday November 19, 2014 at 11:00am in the Funeral Home Chapel. Interment in the Loudon Park Cemetery.
