Verna Carroll Taylor, 101, a resident of Annapolis since 1958, died of a heart attack Sept. 27 at the Spa Creek Center, Genesis ElderCare Network.

Mrs. Taylor was born Nov. 8, 1904, and reared in Baltimore, attending Eastern High School and the Maryland Institute of Art. She was a homemaker and an artist who worked as a graphic artist prior to her marriage in 1927 to George H. Taylor.

She was a member of Cape St. Claire United Methodist Church and enjoyed painting, crocheting and gardening.

Mr. Taylor died in September 2003.

Surviving are three daughters, Theodora V. Wachtler of Plano, Texas, Verna C. Bellam of Lake Jackson, Texas, and George T. Lewis of Annapolis; nine grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. She was the sister of the late Richard Kesselring.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Barranco and Sons Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Highway. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Cape St. Claire United Methodist Church, followed by burial in Parkwood Cemetery at 3310 Taylor Ave., Baltimore.
