Heaven gained an angel September 11, 2026 with the passing of Verna Biggs, known as Nonny to most. Born May 8, 1934 in Center, Wisconsin to Gertrude and Wilbert Lillge, she helped with the family farm until graduating high school. Then she was “off to the big city” of Washington DC where she eventually met her future husband Gene on a blind date. They would marry and raise two kids as they followed his navy career to multiple postings including Virginia, Texas, Massachusetts, Florida, England and finally back to Maryland.

Nonny was a resident of Severna Park, MD for more than 50 years. During those years she helped her kids raise their kids, acted as an unofficial sports taxi driver, and became an active member of St Paul’s Lutheran Church in Glen Burnie. She was always available to help when something was needed, and truly invaluable in helping raise 6 grandchildren playing different sports in different places all at the same time. Getting tired of home maintenance Nonny moved to Heartlands Assisted Living in February 2025; they are going to have to find someone else to win all the bingo games now. She also became an avid watcher of golf on TV, interesting because nobody in the family played.

Nonny was predeceased by Gene (1999) and her brother Glen Lillge and is survived by sister Carla Newquist (husband Dennis), sister-in-law Bonnie Lillge, children Beth Majerowicz and her husband Stephen and Mike and his wife Debra; grandchildren Chris Majerowicz (wife Amanda), Erin Kroeker (husband Chris), Megan Dean (husband David), Jessica Connor (husband Ryan), Shannon Kay (husband Kyle), and Melissa Biggs; and great grandchildren Caleb Majerowicz, Jackson Majerowicz, Harper Kay and Noah Kay.

A service will be held on Saturday September 19, 2026 at 11:00am at St. Paul's Lutheran Church 308 Oak Manor Dr, Glen Burnie, MD 21061. Interment at MD Veterans Cemetery Crownsville, MD at a later date.
