Verena A. Guild Sweitzer (nee Munksgard), 87, a resident of Odenton, died on February 10, 2010 at Glen Burnie Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Glen Burnie.

She was born September 4, 1922 in Irvine, PA, where she was raised. She attended a three year nursing program at WCA Hospital in Jamestown, NY.

Mrs. Sweitzer was a registered nurse and retired in 2000.

She was a member of Delmont United Methodist Church in Severn, MD. For more than 60 years, Verena was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Also, she was a member of the Order of the Amaranth.

She was preceded in death by her late parents Harry A. Munksgard and Bertha Alplanalp Munksgard, and her late husband, Allen Guild, and late husband, Charles F. Sweitzer.

She is survived by her sister, Alice Hotchkiss and her nephew, Harry Hotchkiss.

Family and friends may visit on Tuesday, February 16, 2010 from 5-8 PM at Barranco & Sons, P.A. Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Gov. Ritchie Hwy in Severna Park.
A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, February 17, 2010 at 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Private interment will be in Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Crownsville, MD.
