Vera Marie Smith, 84, a resident of Cape St. Claire for 28 years and formerly of Washington, D.C. for 35 years, died of natural causes Oct. 1 at home.
The daughter of the late Wilfred and Elizabeth McCombie, Mrs. Smith was born on March 26, 1922, in Carrolltown, Pa.
She moved to Washington, D.C., during World War II to work at the Cadet Red Cross. She retired after working as a registered nurse.
Her interests included gardening, crafts, cooking and Hawaii.
Surviving are her husband, Emery Conway Smith, whom she married May 2, 1951; and one brother, Leo McCombie of Patton, Pa. She was the sister of the late Gerald McCombie.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. tomorrow at Barranco and Sons Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Highway. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Andrew by the Bay Catholic Church, 701 College Parkway. Burial will follow in Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Crownsville.
