Ursula Stadermann Pierce, of Severna Park, Maryland passed away on December 14, 2024. She was 89 years old. She is survived by her devoted husband of 68 years, Robert F. Pierce, her son, Andrew Pierce, daughter-in-law, Linda Pierce, son-in-law, Michael Cogar, her younger sister, Hildegard Braunsberger and niece, Tanya Sheehan. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Laura Cogar-Pierce, and older brother, Gunther Stadermann.
Ursula (also called Oma by her family) was a unique woman who led a vibrant life. She was born on September 22, 1935, in Bad Bruckenau, Germany to the late Emil and Elisa Stadermann. She later lived in Eschwege, Germany where as a young girl she and her family endured the hardship of World War Two. She later met and married Robert Pierce, who was stationed in the Army near Eschwege, Germany. They had their son, Andrew Pierce, and shortly thereafter moved to Norfolk, Virginia where their daughter, Laura Pierce, was born. Later they moved to Baltimore, Maryland and ultimately built a home in Joppatowne, Maryland. She embraced the Baltimore culture: Little Italy restaurants, Colts games at Memorial Stadium and then to Johnny U's Golden Arm Restaurant, concerts at the Meyerhoff Hall and the Lyric, and the Baltimore Museum of Art.
Ursula was proud of her German heritage and spoke fluent English with her distinct accent. During her time in Joppatowne she loved to cook. She was known for her German recipes. She loved to read and was an active member in the Joppatowne Woman's Club. She also was a volunteer and assisted with bowling outings for individuals who suffered from Multiple Sclerosis. She loved cats and birds. Many cats were pleased to live in her home and receive her love. She loved family vacations to the Outer Banks, NC, Blackwater Falls, WV, Aruba and she was proud to take her family to Germany.
She loved her grandson, Justin Pierce and wife, Laci Ezzo Pierce, her granddaughter, Shannon Pierce Gagnon and husband, Donnie Gagnon, and three grandchildren Pierce Gagnon, Jacques Gagnon and Haven Gagnon.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 1, 2024 at 11am in Barranco Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Hwy, Severna Park, MD 21146
In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation may be offered to the charities below which she supported.
