Thomas Lee Whittle, 73, died Oct. 23 after a courageous three and one half year battle with brain cancer.
He was born June 7, 1936, in Adel, Ga., to the late Levy and Myrtice Whittle and was raised in Winter Haven, Fla.
He was a graduate of Florida
State University and served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He retired from Amoco Oil Company. The long time resident of the Severna Park area was an avid reader, enjoyed traveling and golf, and doted on his family.
Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Carol; two sons, Jeffrey Whittle of Glendale and Gregory Whittle of St. Augustine, Fla.; one daughter, Karen Szurgot of Dublin, Calif.; one sister, Sue Walker of Georgia; and seven grandchildren.
Family and friends may visit from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 27 at Barranco & Sons, P.A. Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Governor Ritchie Highway in Severna Park. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 28 at St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, 689 Ritchie Highway in Severna Park.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Tom's name to Hospice of the Chesapeake, 445 Defense Highway, Annapolis, MD 21401.
A Memorial Chapel Service will be held at Maryland Veterans Cemetery, Crownsville, on Friday 10am.
