Colonel Thomas R. White, USA (Ret) passed away suddenly on February 13, 2009 in Severna Park, MD.
He was born in Champaign, Illinois on November 28, 1942 to USAF Col (R) Joseph R. and Marjorie H. White. He graduated from the US Military Academy (West Point) in 1965, was commissioned in the Artillery Branch of the US Army and served in Viet Nam, Germany, Korea, Saudi Arabia, and numerous stateside locations. He was awarded the Legion of Merit, Purple Heart, Meritorious Service Medal with eight Oak Leaf Clusters, Bronze Star with Valor and one Oak Leaf Cluster, Army Commendation Medal with Valor, Air Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters, and a Meritorious Unit Award. He earned a Masters of Science in Math from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 1970 and a Masters in Business Administration (Business & Finance) from Long Island University in 1974.
He retired from the Army in 1993 and worked as a Program Director at Anne Arundel Community College, Director of Simulations for the International Group of MPRI, Inc., and as a Project Director for Privatized Housing at Fort George G. Meade, MD before retiring in September 2008.
He loved his family, traveling, golf, and fishing and was an avid gardener and Dallas Cowboys fan.
He is survived by his mother, Marjorie White, of Colorado Springs, CO; a brother, Matthew Lee White of Englewood, CO; a sister, Kim Bishop, of College Station, TX; his wife, Ingrid Lindberg, of Severna Park, MD; a daughter, Elizabeth Jernigan, of Selma, NC; a son, Spencer White, of Columbus, GA; a step-daughter, Jenny Sergeant, of Clifton Park, NY; a daughter, Briana Lindberg, of Severna Park, MD; and seven wonderful grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at Woods Memorial Presbyterian Church, 611 Baltimore Annapolis Boulevard, Severna Park, MD on March 28, 2009 at 11:00 AM.
