Thomas W. Taylor, son of Arthur Threat Taylor and Mame Ellis Taylor, became an angel at the age of 90 on Wednesday, November 9, 2016 surrounded by his family at Frederick Memorial Hospital, following a lengthy illness.

Born in Memphis, Tennessee on April 15, 1926, he served two tours in the Army-Air Corps as a tail gunner on a B-26 crew during World War 2. He attended at Rhodes (formerly Southwestern) College and went on to Union Theological Seminary. There he met the love of his life, the Reverend June Ruth Michaelson Taylor of Annapolis, whom he married and loved for 62 years. After the Korean War, Tom took his bride to the mission field of South Korea and served there for five years, rebuilding the hospital compound now known as the Presbyterian Medical Center. Upon their return, Tom completed his degree at the University of Texas and went on to receive his MBA from The University of Chicago.

Tom worked in the banking industry for many years, writing training programs and other systems analysis tasks. He was instrumental in placing the first ATM machines in the Pittsburgh area, predicting that one day people would not carry cash, but would only need a single card to manage all their financial transactions.

Tom served his community in many ways. He was a member of Rotary International, served on the Planning Commission and the Board of Trustees of Hoffman Estates, Ill. He also served his church as an elder and Stephens minister, loved singing in the choir and teaching Sunday School.

Preceded in death in May by his wife, Tom will also be missed by his children, Rebecca (Paul) DeLameter of Frederick, Md., Michael (Teresa) Taylor of Albuquerque, NM, his four grandchildren, Peter and Kelly DeLameter, of Frederick, and Joshua and Rachel Taylor, of Albuquerque, his brother in-law, Benjamin (Joan) Michaelson, Jr. of Annapolis, Md., and his extended family.

Tom was soft-spoken and gracious, always seeking the best in people. He faced life's adversities with dignity and rose above. A servant of the Lord his entire life, he now rests in his arms.
