Thomas (Tom) Eugene Stancavage Sr. of Severn, Maryland passed away peacefully on September 20, 2024, after recently celebrating his 90th birthday and 65th wedding anniversary. Tom was born on September 15, 1934, in Avoca, Pennsylvania as the youngest child of nine to Michael Stankiewicz and Sophie Jacubowski Stankiewicz, both from Poland. He served in the U.S. Army from July 1957 to June 1959 (SP4 – Fort Dix, NJ) and August 1961 to August1962 (SGT E-5 – Fort Devens, MA), and then enjoyed a long career as a realtor.

Tom's Catholic faith was very important to him, and he was a member of St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church in Severna Park, Maryland. Some of his favorite things included homemade pierogies, the Ravens and Orioles, flowers (especially orchids and hibiscus), and travel, especially to Grand Cayman. In recent years, you could often find Tom, or Pop Pop, watching the news with his favorite cat Hobie. Tom is survived by a big family – his wife Margaret (Peggy) Stancavage; his children: Susan (and Ronnie) Gist, Thomas (Tom) Stancavage Jr. (and Celie Pribyl), and Colleen (and Jess) Lowe; his three grandchildren: Brooke Opel, Justin Stancavage, and Kristen Stancavage; his three nieces and their families: Breanne (and Danny) Bauer and their sons Hudson and Connor, Carly (and Jeff) Wehberg and their daughters Presley and Parker, and Darby (and Tommy) Spitzer and their son Henry; and his sister Helen Lozinski and niece Deborah Koch.

Tom will be buried with military honors in Maryland Veterans Cemetery at 1122 Sunrise Beach Road, Crownsville, Maryland with a service on October 1, 2024 at 11:30 AM at the same location. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
