Thomas D. Scardina, 83, was born in Baltimore, Maryland on December 5, 1940. He passed away peacefully at his Arnold, MD home on September 1, 2024. Upon his journey to heaven, he was surrounded by the loving hands and comforting presence of his wife, daughter, grandkids and other close family relatives.

Also known as, "Tom, Tommy, Pop-Pop and Uncle Tom", he was a gentle, kind and softspoken man with an easy-going nature and a deeply generous heart. Tom grew up in the "old days" in South Baltimore. Proudly born into an Italian family, son to Vincent F. and Josephine M. Scardina, his Italian heritage was always an important element of his life. He often reminisced about the unforgettable tastes and smells of the homemade recipes and the memories of helping his mother make those specialty Italian "biscotti" cookies. He also served faithfully as an altar boy at the St. Peter's Catholic Church in Baltimore.

Tom was an extraordinary person. He was pure light and goodness inside and out. Humbly handsome, the consummate dresser and welcoming to all with his big-hearted smile and classic greeting "Hey Buddy". He was simply the ultimate gentleman.

Tom was a Master Barber and business owner for 64 years, serving the Severna Park Community throughout his career. He loved his work and was destined to be successful in his chosen profession. Upon asking him when he might retire, he would always stop, smile and say, well, never. He kept that promise!

All that knew him would agree, he gave the best haircuts, engaged in great conversation and offered fun jokes along the way to brighten the spirits of so many. Tom was more than a barber; he was everyone's trusted friend - always steady, always full of good advice, always giving.

Tom is survived by his loving wife of 62 Years, Mary Jane Scardina of Arnold, MD, daughter Lisa Scardina of Stevensville, MD, Sister Josephene T. Scardina of Kingston, PA, (4) Grandchildren; Laura and Phillip Garvin, Madisen and Domonic Scardina, and many very close family relatives and friends.

Tom was preceded in death by his son, Thomas D. Scardina Jr. and his (3) brothers; Vincent G., Charles and Nickie Scardina.

Words cannot express the immense loss we all will feel without having our "Tom, Tommy, Pop-Pop and Uncle Tom" in our lives to brighten our days. Rest in peace. We love you. We will forever keep you close in our hearts.

A Memorial Service will be held at St. Johns The Evangelist Catholic Church on Saturday, September 28, 2024 at 10:00 am. The church is located at 689 Ritchie Highway, Severna Park, Md. 21146. A private family gathering will follow the church service.
