Thomas Wayne Igoe 

February 14, 1946 – June 30, 2026

Thomas Wayne Igoe, devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, veteran, and faithful servant of Christ, was called home to his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on June 30, 2026, at the age of 80, surrounded by the love of his family.

Born in Chicago, Illinois, to Harold T. Igoe and Julia G. (Goralski) Igoe, Tom was raised in a military family where he learned the values of duty, integrity, faith, and service that would define his life.

Constantly on the move throughout his childhood, he graduated from Porter-Gaud Military Academy in Charleston, South Carolina.

Following in his father's footsteps, Tom proudly served twenty-five years in the United States Air Force, retiring with the rank of Master Sergeant (E-7). As a Radio Communications Analysis Technician (AFSC 20270) serving in the Signals Intelligence (SIGINT) mission, his assignments took him to Osan, South Korea; Yokohama and Misawa, Japan; Okinawa; Fort Meade, Maryland; and San Antonio, Texas. Throughout his distinguished military career, he exemplified the values of duty, integrity, humility, and faithful service to his country.

Though his career took him around the world, Tom's greatest mission was always serving the people God placed in his life.

Following his retirement from the Air Force, Tom and his family made Glen Burnie, Maryland, their home for more than thirty years. There he began a second career as a bookkeeper and accountant, earning the respect of colleagues through his diligence, dependability, and quiet professionalism.

While Tom's military service and professional accomplishments were a source of quiet pride, they never defined him. He was, above all else, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, faithful friend, and servant of Christ.

Tom was an avid reader who enjoyed films, the music of the 1950s and 1960s, and spending time with family and friends. A lifelong outdoorsman, he loved camping and delighted in collecting stamps, coins, and Boyds Bears, finding joy in preserving history and the memories attached to each collection.

For more than thirty years, Tom faithfully worshiped and served as a member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Glen Burnie, Maryland. Whether serving in the church office, preparing meals for church picnics and fundraisers, supporting congregational ministries, or quietly lending a helping hand wherever it was needed, Tom demonstrated a servant's heart. He also devoted many years to the Boy Scouts, mentoring young people and sharing his love of the outdoors. Around a campfire, in the church kitchen, or gathered around a table with family and friends, Tom had a remarkable gift for making everyone feel welcome.

For sixteen years, Tom faced Parkinson's disease with quiet courage, dignity, and unwavering faith. Though the disease gradually changed his body, it never diminished his love for family and friends, his kindness toward others, or his trust in God's promises.

During the final eighteen months of his life, Tom was a resident of Brighton Gardens of Columbia, where the staff and caregivers became an extension of his family. Their compassion, friendship, dignity, and loving care brought comfort not only to Tom, but also to those who loved him. The family extends its heartfelt gratitude for the extraordinary kindness shown to Tom throughout his residency.

Tom was preceded in death by the love of his life, his beloved wife, Rebecca (Cannehl) Igoe, in 2018. Together, Tom and Rebecca built a home grounded in faith, hospitality, and service to others. Their marriage was a beautiful testimony of enduring love, faithful partnership, and Christian devotion. It was Tom's heartfelt wish to be laid to rest beside Rebecca, a wish his family is honored to fulfill.

He is survived by his brother, Timothy Igoe; his daughter, Jennifer (Igoe) Rundle and her husband, David; his son, Douglas Igoe and his wife, Michelle; and his three beloved grandsons, Matthew, Christopher, and Sean, who lovingly knew him as "Opa."

Tom's life was marked by faithful service—to God, to his country, to his family, and to his community. Whether in uniform, in his church, or among family and friends, he lived with quiet humility, steadfast integrity, and a servant's heart.

His legacy is found not only in the years he lived, but in the countless lives he touched through encouragement, kindness, generosity, and love.

The family finds comfort in Christ's promise:

"Well done, good and faithful servant; enter into the joy of your master."

With confidence in the resurrection won through Jesus Christ, we rejoice that Tom now rests in perfect peace, healed by the Great Physician and joyfully reunited with Rebecca.
