THOMAS BLAISE HOWELL
Thomas Blaise Howell, 68, a resident of Florida, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 24, 2024. Tom was a hugely successful businessman, generous philanthropist, active member of his community, and a guy to whom friends in need could always turn. Tom loved and lived his life to its fullest extent.
Tom was born on February 3, 1956 in upstate New York to John Francis Howell and Margaret Mary Howell. Tom is preceded in death by his sister, Missy, his mom and dad, and his loving wife, Susan Warner. He grew up in Severna Park, MD and graduated from Severna Park High School. Tom later attended the University of Maryland before starting the first of several successful companies that he created over the course of the next 50 years, including ATL International, Inc. (All Tune & Lube), Clarke's, and, later, Tech USA, Inc.
Tom was a loving father to his two children Thomas Howell Jr. and Lauren (Howell) Stratmann. Raising his kids on the Magothy River, he taught his children all about boating, fishing, and crabbing. Tom loved the beach and took his family to Stone Harbor and Cape May, New Jersey and Ocean City, Maryland for many years. Tom loved traveling to Nantucket with his whole family, including his mother, father and sister. He had a gift for bringing the family together through vacations, dinner celebrations and deck parties at home.
Tom married Susan Warner on May 7, 2022. Tom loved Susan and together they shared a passion for leading Tech USA.
Tom was a fun-loving guy and enjoyed his time with friends in Maryland, friends in Florida, his piano, as well as his boating excursions (both short and long). His favorite expression was, "…oh, it's good to laugh." Tom always made time to laugh and enjoy life.
Over the years, Tom and Susan gave back time and resources to both their community and various organizations, including Hospice of the Chesapeake (where he served on the Board of Directors), University of Maryland Baltimore Washington Medical Center (where he served on the Board of Directors), the Johns Hopkins Hospital, MD Anderson Hospital, BWI Business Partnership, and St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church.
Tom will be missed by his brother, his two children, his son-in-law, his four grandchildren, the Howell Family, the Warner Family, his friends, and his colleagues at Tech USA Companies.
