Thomas W. Glynn, 76, of Annapolis, MD, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 27, after a long illness.  He leaves behind his beloved wife of 41 years, Judith (Gates) Glynn, his son Thomas J. Glynn (Susan) of Marblehead, MA, and his daughters Beth Guthrie Radwanski (Brian) of Annapolis, MD and Karen Adkins (Charles) of Chesterfield, VA. He was predeceased by his daughters Kathleen Glynn and Mary Glynn, his parents Bernard Francis Glynn and Virginia Marie (Smith) Glynn, and his brother John.   Tom was a loving grandfather to Victoria, Emma and Sean Glynn, Ellen and Coleman Guthrie, and Eli and Kerri Adkins. He is survived by three siblings: Marianne Smith, Bernard Glynn (Dorothy) and Mark Glynn (Margaret).

He was born on July 7, 1942 in Brighton, MA. He graduated from Natick High School, in Natick, MA in 1960.  He received his PhD fellowship from Northeastern University in 1969.

Tom was a renowned engineer, entrepreneur, and inventor.  After a 20-year career in various engineering leadership positions, he became the Director of Advanced Programs Engineering at Martin Marietta (Lockheed Martin) in Orlando, FL, where he was honored as both Scientist of the Year and Engineer of the Year for his breakthrough work in defense technologies.   He went on to found Glynn Scientific, Inc., in Annapolis, MD, continuing his work on advanced RADAR, SONAR, and extending into Satellite Communications. He was awarded numerous patents for his proprietary technology. He worked with many leading national and international companies in the defense field.

Tom was an avid sailor, skier, golfer and tennis player.  He was a member of the Annapolis Yacht Club, the Eastport Yacht Club, and the Chartwell Golf and Country Club, as well as the Chesapeake Bay B40, the Peninsula Golf and Country Club, and the Kiawah Island Club.   Tom cherished his dogs and was recently preceded in death by his adored Toby.

A Celebration of Life for family and friends will be held Friday, November 16th at noon at the Chartwell Golf and Country Club. Donations, kindly, to the Hospice of the Chesapeake.
