Thomas Nuera Dawson, 74, a resident of Severna Park since 1962, died of complications of emphysema May 3 at his home after a lengthy illness.
Born in Mollusk, Va., on Dec. 6, 1932, and reared in Virginia and upstate New York, Mr. Dawson served in the Army during the Korean War and was honorably discharged in 1954. He was employed as a sheet metal worker with Local 100 in Washington, D.C., retiring in 1985 after 30 years.
He was a member of Local 100 and the Donut Shack Club, and enjoyed building model airplanes and ships.
Surviving are his children, Cynthia Dawson of Chesapeake, Va., James Dawson of Dandridge, Tenn., and John Dawson of Severna Park; three sisters, Mary Hoffmeister of Albany, N.Y., Sadie Marie Riggio of Bowie and Ruth Bartlett of California; three brothers, Pat Dawson of Washington, D.C., Frank Dawson of Baltimore and Joseph Dawson of Detroit, Mich.; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandson. He was the father of the late Regina Dawson.
Visitation is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. tomorrow at Barranco and Sons Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Highway, where services will be at 9 a.m. Monday.
