Thomas L. Carter, Jr., 83, passed away on Sunday, December 16, 2018 at his home in Annapolis, Maryland.  He was born on August 28, 1935 to Mary Madison (Mollie) and Thomas L. Carter in Annapolis, Maryland.  Tom was a long time resident of Severna Park and was educated at Severn School, Class of 1954, and the University of Maryland, College Park. There he was on the varsity swim team and a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity.   After college he made a career in mortgage banking, working for Leroy Merritt and eventually owning his own firm, Old Bay Financial Services.  He was extremely proud to serve as President of the Mortgage Bankers Association of Maryland as well as Chairman of the Board of his beloved alma mater, Severn School.

Tom grew up in Round Bay and loved the Severn River.  There were many tales of good times on his boat, "Sea Easy".   He had a love for the stock market and was a member of the Paradise Lost Investment Syndicate.  He enjoyed a membership at the Merchants Club of Baltimore and it's Round Table Group.  He was also a member of the US Naval Reserves and the Navy League.  Tom very much enjoyed the company of good friends and family and was an avid dog and wildlife enthusiast, especially for all those who lived on Sullivan Cove in Linstead where he lived for 36 years.

Tom is survived by his wife of 52 years, Ann Haslup Carter; his son Tom Carter III of Severna Park; his daughter, Lucy Carter Chinea of Severna Park; his 4 grandchildren, Sarah Carter, Emma Carter, Aidan Carter and Scarlet Chinea and one sister, Catherine Carter Morrell of Boston.  He is preceded in death by his son, Andrew, his parents, Mollie and Tom Carter and his sister, Helen Carter McGauly.

Friends and family may visit on Wednesday, December 19, 2018 from 4:30-8 pm at Barranco & Sons, P.A. Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Highway, in Severna Park and invited to the funeral services held at 11:00 am on Thursday, December 20, 2018 at St John's Roman Catholic Church, 689 Ritchie Hwy. Severna Park, MD 21146 with a reception following.

In lieu of flowers the family would be pleased for donations to be made in Tom's memory to the Andrew Brereton Carter Financial Aid Fund .  The fund was established in April of 1973 in memory of Andrew Brereton Carter.
