Thomas A. Brown Sr., 78, of Severna Park, died of cancer April 19 at his home.
Mr. Brown was born March 11, 1927, and reared in Ventnor, N.J. He moved to Severna Park in the 1950s. He graduated from Franklin and Marshall College in Lancaster, Pa., in 1948.
A custom home builder for 57 years, he started his own business 26 years ago, called American Builder Services Inc. A certified master builder, he served on the board of directors and was a member of the Home Builders Association of Maryland.
He was an avid sailor.
The widower of Ellen M. Chairs Brown, he is survived by one daughter, Mary Ellen Brown Hutchins of Front Royal, Va.; two sons, Thomas Brown Jr. of Stevensville and Michael Brown of Crownsville; one brother, Richard A. Brown of Glen Burnie; and two grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Jim Brown.
Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Barranco and Sons Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Highway, where services will be at 9 a.m. Friday. Burial will be in Mount Carmel Cemetery, next to Mount Carmel United Methodist Church, 4760 Mountain Road, Pasadena.
