Theresa Elizabeth (Busby) Jacobs Stripling, 93, passed away quietly on June 9th, 2017 at Hospice of the Chesapeake after a short illness.

Theresa was born on March 24th 1924 in Kokomo, Indiana to Paul L. Busby and Sareta Corine (Thompson) Busby. She graduated from Kokomo High School in 1941. She received her B.A. in education from Purdue University in 1945 and was a member of the Alpha Xi Delta Sorority. She earned her Master's Degree in Guidance Counseling from Ball State University in 1963 and continued her education at Towson State University.

Theresa taught grade school, Home Economics, and was a high school guidance counselor for many years.

Theresa and her first husband, Kenneth Cole Jacobs, farmed near Kokomo, Indiana with their 3 children and enjoyed 17 years of marriage until Kenneth's death March 24, 1962.

She enjoyed boating and entertaining family and friends for many years with her second husband, Claude W. Stripling in Severna Park, MD. Theresa was a long-time, active member of the AAUW, The Panhellenic Club, Severna Park United Methodist Church and Riderwood Village Protestant Church. At Riderwood she enjoyed participating in many activities including the Wii Bowling League, the Writing Club and Piano Club.

Theresa was preceded in death by her parents: Paul L. and Sareta Busby; her brother: Paul D. Busby; her first husband: Kenneth C. Jacobs; her second husband: Claude W. Stripling; and a daughter-in-law: Patricia Jacobs.

She is survived by her 3 children: David L. Jacobs of Houston, TX, Mark D. (Genevieve) Jacobs of Arnold, MD, and Elaine J. (Gary) Dorrel of Brookville, IN; step-daughter: Lynda (Tony) Zecca of Denver, CO; 11 grandchildren: Andrew Dorrel, Charles Dorrel, Michael Jacobs, Matthew Jacobs, Amanda Dorrel Silas, Annika Jacobs Stillwell, Daniel Jacobs, Christopher Jacobs, Isaac Dorrel, Caroline Jacobs, and Peter Jacobs; two step-grandchildren: Melanie Zecca Casprowiak and Karen Zecca Ross; as well as 15 great-grandchildren and 3 step-great-grandchildren; a brother: Lawrence A. Busby of Cincinnati, OH; and sisters: Joan (Fred) Frech of Tucson, AZ and Jean Beard of Frankfort, IN.

Memorial Services will be held on Thursday June 15, 2017 at 10:00am in the Riderwood Village Chapel 3140 Gracefield Road Silver Spring, MD 20909 and at 2:00pm in the Severna Park United Methodist Church 731 Benfield Rd. Severna Park, MD 21146. Interment will be private

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Riderwood Village Church, Severna Park Methodist Church or Hospice of the Chesapeake.
