Thelma Smith Parsons, 78, of Severna Park, died of ovarian cancer Sept. 6 at her home after an 18-month illness.

Born in Grimsby, N.E. Lincs, United Kingdom, on Feb. 23, 1928, Mrs. Parsons previously lived in San Francisco, Fresno and Sacramento, Calif.; Minneapolis, Minn; Miami, Fla., and West Chester, Pa. On Dec. 11, 1948, she married Roy Parsons and lived in Severna Park for 29 years.

She was a former employee of Mindy's Country House in Severna Park. After retiring, she volunteered at Anne Arundel Medical Center in the Volunteer Placement Office.

She was a member of the British Belles in Severna Park and traveled with the Millersville 55+ Club. She enjoyed knitting baby sweaters for family and friends.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Deb Barnes of Cave Creek, Ariz., and Kim Quigley of Stevensville; and two granddaughters.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Anne's Episcopal Church, Church Circle. Burial will be private.
