IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Terry J.
Collins
April 6, 1948 – August 3, 2023
Terry James Collins, 75, of Severna Park, Maryland (MD) passed away peacefully with family by his side on August 3rd, 2023. Terry was born on April 6,1948 in Salisbury, MD where he grew up in a large family with two sisters and two half-brothers.
Terry lived in the Baltimore/Annapolis area for most of his adult life besides a brief time in Florida when he was in his 20's. It was during that time that he developed a passion for public service resulting in a career in investigative units. Whether it was investigating welfare fraud for the State of Maryland or investigating housing fraud in Howard County, he enjoyed the day to day of making sure that social services were applied fairly to all. During his career, he was able to assist in the passing of two laws and made lifelong connections with those around him.
Terry enjoyed traveling the world with his wife Debra, going for long drives on his motorcycle or in his sports car, and most of all spending time with his family, whom he loved dearly. Terry loved photography, art, and music. His art tastes varied, but had a strong love for pottery from Santa Fe, New Mexico, a favorite vacation destination for his wife and him and where they celebrated 50 years of marriage in 2021. Music was another passion. He loved the music he grew up with: Rush, Grand Funk, and ZZ Top, and also grew to love modern bands such as Joe Bonamassa.
Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Debra Collins; two sons, Josh Collins (wife, Carol Collins) of Severna Park, MD and Matt Collins (wife, Danielle Marks Collins) of Cheyenne, WY; two sisters, Elaine Hummer of Salisbury, MD and Dolores Rice of Rio Hondo, TX; and three grandchildren, Alice, Annabel, and James, who miss their Pop-Pop dearly.
